SPCC Hazardous Waste / Hazardous Materials Planning

A variety of planning efforts are required to comply with the environmental regulations. This includes Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans, hazardous waste contingency plans and training associated with these and other rules.

SPCC plans are required by 40 CFR Part 112 pursuant to the Oil Pollution Prevention Act. Under these regulations, EPA maintains jurisdiction over facilities having underground storage tanks (USTs) with the capacity of 42,000 gallons or more of oil, or aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) or containers with the total capacity of 1,320 gallons or more of oil, or any single aboveground container with a capacity greater than 660 gallons. If one of these criteria applies to a facility, then a facility-wide SPCC Plan must be prepared. EMT and MEI are well qualified to develop your SPCC plans. Our staff includes Professional Engineers registered in Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Kentucky.

If you are a large quantity generator of hazardous waste, you are required to prepare and implement a hazardous waste contingency plan. Having prepared many such plans we can assist you in development of a plan, implementation and associated training. You may also wish to simplify your emergency planning in accordance with EPA’s “One Plan” guidance. EPA now allows development of a single plan that incorporates SPCC, hazardous waste, stormwater and other emergency planning requirements. EMT is experienced is developing such plans.
